Happy Belated ... 2008!

Oh my goodness! I can't believe I'm starting the blog for 2008 today ... 2 months after the fact. Life has been so busy that I'm so far behind in everything ... even the things I love to do most. I've said this many times, but I sure wish there are extra hours in a day. Even one hour would help!

Let's see what's new in my corner? I've started Photography school! Something I've been wanting to do for so long and finally decided to just do it. I still have to work full-time to pay the bills (and the hefty tuition) but my evenings and weekends are now totally devoted to doing the things I love most ... taking pictures and making photographs! This is mainly the reason I've been so behind with blogging these past few months. Will try to be better though.

I've never been happier going to school in my whole life! It's worth all the sacrifices I have to make (including traveling ... the #2 thing I love).

Happy 2008 everyone!

PS - Yes, a wintry image to start off 2008 ... it is after all still winter here. But where is all the gorgeous snow?

Coffee with the Gilmore Girls

What is the perfect treat for a Sunday morning in bed other than a nice cup of coffee and a hardy breakfast? Gilmore Girls Season 7 of course! The long-awaited for DVD set is out! It's the last season and we GG fans hope that Amy Sherman-Palladino will pick it up again soon. We love this show so much, it's so hard to let go.

Please please please, Amy! Don't wait too long to take us back to Stars Hollow!

By the way, if you don't have it yet ... the complete series collection is now available on DVDs!

Food Photography Goodies

I've been following Lara Ferroni's blogs for a while now, and love this latest entry on food photography gear. If you're into photography and especially food photography, you'll love this glimpse into Lara's studio! Her article on food photography for Digicamhelp is another great read!

If you know of any other great blogs on photography, feel free to share them here with us too! I've learned so much from reading all the interesting blogs I'm lucky enough to stumble upon by chance or by referral.

A City to Love

Each time we're in NYC, I find one more reason to love this vibrant and oh-so-very-unique city. And among the top five on this list is definitely Chinatown!

And it's all about the food for me! :)

Here they are in no particular order ... fried dumplings and sticky rice cakes from sidewalk vendors, tasty noodle bowls and fragrant pastries from bakery shops, delicious dim sum treats, 10-course family meals from local restaraunts, and much much more which you'll have to discover for yourself.

And what fun you'll have trying to decipher the secret ingredients and treasures of Chinatown! The best part is ... everything is amazingly affordable! But don't forget to bargain when purchasing anything from street vendors and shops. You may get a surprisingly good deal if you're a little patient. Last but not least, bring a bit of cash since many places don't accept credit cards and street vendors definitely want only cash.

And if you're hungry at 2:00AM? Check these places out!

Are you ready?! Here's a map to help you navigate the streets of Chinatown, and below are directions on how to get there.

into the wild

Since today is Friday ... let's feature a movie for movie night!

My pick for this week is Seam Penn's "Into The Wild", recommended by my friend Ngocster. Not sure if it's playing at a theater near you yet, if not and you still want to check it out, Into the Wild, the bookhas been a bestseller for a long time now. The movie itself has also gotten rave reviews.

Btw, I've stumbled upon this fun widget that can feature all my favorite books, movies, DVDs, products, etc. It's scrolling on the right hand side of the page ... see?

Don't you just love widgets?!

We saw the movie last weekend, and it's everything I expected plus more. Definitely a must see. Bring some kleenex though.

something whimsical this way comes

I wonder if Peppa actually knew how happy she'd make us when she threw together these gorgeous whimsical bowls. I bought them intending to use the bowls mostly for food storage (as my favorite cereal bowl for example), but next thing I know ... they've made their way into our living room and turned our bookshelves into a mini art gallery!

It's quite neat to learn a new craft through the artist's eye, especially one who's so passionate about her work like Peppa! Visit Peppa Studio and you'll see what I mean. :)

Btw, I love her new "birdies" series! Super cute!
